Camping is permitted on the Rothaarsteig at designated campsites. We have compiled an overview of the known camping and trekking sites along the Rothaarsteig for you. Outside of campsites, only bivouacking, i.e. sleeping in the open air or in a shelter, is permitted. If you decide to do so, please keep quiet at dusk and do not leave any garbage behind. Please also bear in mind that wood may still be being removed at dusk. Lighting fires in the forest, including gas stoves, and smoking are expressly prohibited from March to October.
